This year our monthly Saturday social coincides with a remarkable Russian holiday that has different names (Red Army Day, Defender of the Fatherland Day), however it has one meaning - the Men's Day. Despite of its military origine, Russians observe February 23 as Men’s Day, because military service is obligatory for most men in Russia. Women give presents and postcards to their male friends and relatives, including those who had never served in the military. February 23 is a public holiday throughout Russia.
In a tradition of having Socials as theme parties we have decided to announce our February Saturday Social a Men's Day Party! During this party women will be supposed to do, what has always been men's prerogative: women will approach men and offer them a glass of wine, women will initiate conversations with a group of chatting men, women will invite men to dance... and what not. Those ladies who play piano may devote a piece or two to all the men in attendance or to a particular man who they like. The question suggests itself - can a woman propose to a man on this day?
All members and Get to Know Us members are invited.
The party is free. Please bring a dish of your choice or a bottle of wine to share.
Ladies, dress to look as feminine as you wish to impress the men on their day!
I am looking forward to seeing you all at our Men's Day Party!
